Per Incanto Gelding Wins Interprovincial

Tough Mauna Kea (Per Incanto-City Class Rose by City On The Hill) would be a prize fighter if he was a boxer. Thoroughly genuine on all track conditions, the Paul Moseley trained gelding took it to some of the more promising North Island intermediate grade winter performers in the ITM Interprovincial Challenge (1600m) at New Plymouth on Saturday, leading all the way to land the 50k event from the imported Galileo mare Igraine.

The Per Incanto five-year-old has proven a model of consistency throughout his winter campaign with four wins and a further three placings from seven starts.

Mauna Kea certainly has the breeding on his dam side to tackle more distance, something his connections have in mind, with his dam being a daughter of Ragamuffin Rose, an adept winter performer who successfully mixed the flat and jumps racing, winning six races including the 1994 Grand National Hurdles (4200m).

Meanwhile in Queensland on Saturday, another Per Incanto five-year-old gelding, the LA bred Mohaka River (Per Incanto-Rivertaine by Centaine) won his sixth race in a 24 start career that has also returned eight minor placings.

Excellence, under-pinned by a good public profile that is down to earth and friendly
