Per Incanto Mare In Dazzling Debut

First starter Pure Daze (Per Incanto-Magic Daze by Grosvenor) pulled off a significant coup for her connections when she landed the Pearl Series bonus and the race stake with an impressive winning debut at Woodville on Thursday.

A seven length win at her only trial ensured the Howie Mathews trained four-year-old of considerable tote support and although very green, particularly in the home straight, the well proportioned mare ran out a comfortable winner by nearly three lengths.

The Brook Gilbert partnership bred and owned mare Belle Canto (Per Incanto-Marekash by Kashani) continued her very consistent form running third.

Gold Power (Per incanto-Danskewithu by Danske) became the 62nd individual first crop winner for Per Incanto when he won in Asia earlier this week. With 89 runners from his first crop, Per Incanto is beginning to get into pretty rarefied territory with near on a 70% winners to runners ratio.

First and foremost, stockman and people whose interest in the animal translates into an innate ability to read how a horse will develop. I’ll see a foal at LA and Sam or Buzz will tell me how they expect it to develop. I’ll see it during my Karaka inspections 12 months later, and you could blow me over with a feather
