King Size Win @ Te Rapa
It’s a tough ask for 3YO’s to compete against older horses however Hill of Kings (Time Test-Knocknacrea by Green Desert) seems to relish the task and his latest success at Te Rapa on Saturday was even more meritorious with the Time Test gelding lumping 69kgs to an all the way win over 2100m.
Bred by LA, Brown Thoroughbreds and Bruce and Anna Perry, Hill of Kings was recording his second win from seven career starts.
Running on for 5th behind the Time Test filly Delorean in the ITM/GIB Winter Championship Final at Ruakaka last start over 1600m, the Shaun Phelan trained 3YO, who is raced by his trainer, Chris Faulkner, Chris Berghan and Peter Neal, found the extra distance of Saturday’s event to his liking.
Time Test has finished second on the NZ Sires Premiership for 3YO winners, with 16 winners of 21 races, just two winners adrift of Savabeel.
