Per Incanto Shatters Sales Record

Monday, 29 January 2024 19:40

After establishing a new record Karaka price for one of his yearlings at last year’s Sale, Per Incanto has exceeded that price of $450k with the sale of a colt from the Redoute’s Choice mare She’s Apples for half a million on day 2 of the 98th NZB Karaka Yearling Sales.

Purchased from the Brighthill Farm draft at last year’s National Weanling Sale for $150k, Cambridge operation Riversley Park have turned a significant profit with the strongly made colt fetching $500k to the bid of Jamie Richards/Andy Williams.

After having just one lot to sell on Day 1, a Per Incanto colt who went to Hong Kong for $280k, things got a whole lot busier for LA on Monday.

Day 2 saw an excellent result for client Ben Kwok whose Per Incanto- Shesspending filly sold to Andrew Forsman/Andy Williams/Bevan Smith for $260k. LA’s Farnan -Rosetta filly sold for $220k to Wexford Stables, who purchased the Yes Yes Yes – Cornerstone filly from LA last year, with trainers Andrew Scott and Lance O’Sullivan hoping this years purchase can show as much early promise as the Yes Yes Yes filly, who as Dua Dance has already won a trial impressively.

Once again it was encouraging to get repeat business from the likes of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott/Chris Rutten, and Steven Cole who paid $160k for the Per Incanto-Not A Jaffa colt offered on behalf of Taihape's John and Elizabeth Anderson.

The third and final day of Book 1 is a quieter time for the farm with five lots to sell, with the expected highlight likely to be the Savabeel-Alam Mo Na colt who sells as LOT 562 around 12.30pm.
