Karaka Upgrade Lifts Per Incanto To Second On Sires Premiership

Tuesday, 24 January 2017 21:00

Last season’s leading NZ sire for 3YO winners Per Incanto is putting the pressure on 2015/16 runner-up Savabeel in the race for honours this seasons.

Rotorua winner Elettra (Per Incanto-Ellington by Express Duke) and Sunday’s impressive Te Rapa winner Justacanta (Per Incanto-Just Casual by Casual Lies) see the LA stallion trailing his Waikato stud counterpart by four wins. And with two individual 3YO stakes winners already this season Per Incanto sits equal with Savabeel, Fastnet Rock and Swiss Ace for the most black-type winners.

Sporting blinkers for the first time on Sunday, Justacanta who has a full brother as LOT 769 in LA’s Karaka Select draft, beat a promising field of 3YO’ss over 1400m.

Another LA bound Karaka yearling with a pedigree upgrade is LOT 426 in our Premier draft. Already turning heads at our on-farm parades with his impressive physique, the Per Incanto colt’s dual stakeswinning half-brother Jacksstar (Zed-Star Guest by Pentire) produced another high class staying performance to finish a close second to Roydon Bergeron’s Oaks winner Savaria in Saturday’s G3 Wallaceville Estates Wellington Cup at Trentham.
